Update: I called into the customer service line and was on hold for a rep for nearly 20 minutes before I got anyone- The lady was very personable, but her only solution was to unplug my tv (my tv was not the problem, as it works fine for every other application besides Hulu) and then to log me out of my Hulu account and relog in. Did not work as I'm still having the #2 problem of it turning the app off on its own while watching it.

I have 2 problems with HULU that i NEVER have with Netflix.
1. Every *** time a commercial comes on its the same Subaru commercial that starts with "Does this map show the peninsula trail?" I KNOW IT BY HEART AND AM SO FED UP.
2. It will turn itself off on my smart TV all the time, in the middle of a show or during commercial. and then it will turn itself back on on its own by then I have to find my show again and start all over, it will do this like 5 times in one hour, but i NEVER have that problem when watching Netflix or Youtube on the same TV.
Hulu needs to get its crap together. I'm thiiis close to canceling.
